In a nostalgic move, Erased Tapes has launched its Rewinder series, focusing on milestones from their label's history. This month, they take a retrospective look at 2008 with a special emphasis on Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds. The journey started with their initial collaboration on Arnalds’ self-released EP, Eulogy for Evolution, after the label's founder, Robert Raths, discovered Arnalds on MySpace.

Arnalds recalls the unique circumstances of their collaboration, sharing insights on his early efforts to promote his music while balancing his identity as a drummer for hardcore band Fighting Shit. The partnership flourished, particularly during their first live performance at The Roundhouse in Camden, paving the way for future projects.

Additionally, Erased Tapes continues its Side by Side essay series, featuring reflections from emerging artists. Newest signee Sheherazaad writes about her admiration for Anne Müller’s album Heliopause, explaining the profound impact it has had on her musical perspective. Müller, who has a significant history with the label, is praised for her unique sound that resonates deeply with listeners.

In another installment, Richard Reed Parry from Bell Orchestre shares his thoughts on Lubomyr Melnyk’s Corollaries, showcasing the personal connections artists have with their peers within the label’s community.
