Father John Misty, the stage persona of Josh Tillman, has announced the release of his sixth studio album titled Mahashmashana. The album is set to hit the shelves on November 22 via Sub Pop Records. With a total of eight tracks, this new project is a collaboration between Tillman and producer Drew Erickson, with Jonathan Wilson as the executive producer.
One of the album’s singles, Screamland, features special guest Alan Sparhawk from the band Low, providing a guitar accompaniment. In conjunction with the single release, a music video directed by Estefania Krl has also been made available. In addition to Screamland, the album includes I Guess Time Just Makes Fools of Us All, which previously appeared on the summer compilation album Greatish Hits: I Followed My Dreams and My Dreams Said To Crawl.
Fans can catch Tillman performing live as he opens for Kacey Musgraves on her Deeper Well tour, which runs until October 4 in Los Angeles. He has additional special performances scheduled, including a show tonight in Bozeman, Montana, and later at the iconic Pappy + Harriet's in Pioneertown, California, on September 25. Looking ahead, Tillman has also announced a 2025 tour across the UK and Europe, kicking off in Oslo on April 3.
