In a recent interview aired on Studio Brussel, members of Irish rock band Fontaines D.C. expressed their frustrations regarding the upcoming reunion of the iconic Britpop group Oasis. This reunion, set for 2025, will be supported by a world tour featuring performances in numerous sold-out stadiums across cities like Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin. Following a swift sell-out of initial ticket sales for the first 14 tour dates, the band has added additional shows in London scheduled for September 2025.

Conor Deegan III and Carlos O'Connell of Fontaines D.C. voiced significant concern about the nostalgia that the Oasis reunion tends to evoke. O'Connell candidly remarked, "I couldn't really give a shit, to be honest," reflecting a growing fatigue with the industry's fixation on past musical eras. Deegan echoed O'Connell's sentiment, indicating that an overwhelming emphasis on legacy acts may obstruct the creative expression of newer artists like themselves.

Fontaines D.C., who gained recognition with their debut album "Dogrel," has also recently released a new project titled "Romance." This project highlights their commitment to artistic growth and a desire to navigate towards contemporary musical directions that set them apart from the nostalgia they critique.

Looking forward, Fontaines D.C. will embark on a busy performance schedule in 2025, including a significant concert at London's Finsbury Park in July, where they will be joined by support acts Amyl And The Sniffers and Kneecap. This lineup further emphasizes the band’s dedication to developing a vibrant musical identity that actively challenges prevailing nostalgia.
