In a recent interview aired on Studio Brussel, Conor Deegan III and Carlos O'Connell of the Irish rock band Fontaines D.C. opened up about their feelings toward the highly anticipated reunion of Britpop icons Oasis, which is set for 2025. This global tour will include performances in key cities such as Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin, with the initial 14 tour dates already sold out. Due to overwhelming demand, Oasis has announced additional shows, particularly in London for September 2025.

Carlos O'Connell shared his frustrations regarding the nostalgia-driven hype surrounding the reunion announcement, expressing a stark indifference by stating, "I couldn't really give a shit, to be honest." Such a sentiment highlights a broader concern within the music community about the impact of legacy acts on new music. Conor Deegan III further emphasized this perspective, suggesting that the emphasis on established acts could impede opportunities for emerging bands like Fontaines D.C.

As Fontaines D.C. continues their artistic evolution, they are actively working on their upcoming project titled "Romance." This new album aims to reflect the band's growth and commitment to contemporary sounds, contrasting sharply with the nostalgia they critique. Looking ahead to 2025, they have an ambitious concert lined up at London’s Finsbury Park in July, featuring performances by Amyl And The Sniffers and Kneecap. This event underscores their desire to carve out a new musical identity away from prevailing retro trends.
