Fontaines D.C. have publicly shared their lack of enthusiasm regarding the recently announced reunion of Britpop legends Oasis. The iconic band revealed plans for a world tour in 2025, which includes a series of sold-out stadium shows in cities like Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin. Fans have responded with considerable excitement, as the initial 14 tour dates sold out quickly, leading to additional shows being scheduled in London for September 2025.
During an interview with Studio Brussel, Conor Deegan III and Carlos O'Connell of Fontaines D.C. expressed their frustration with the nostalgic energy surrounding Oasis's return. "I couldn't really give a shit, to be honest," O'Connell remarked, while Deegan emphasized that they feel confined by a cycle of nostalgia that inhibits the creation of innovative music.
Fontaines D.C.'s debut album, "Dogrel," marked their entry into the music scene, yet their latest release, "Romance," showcases a conscious effort to explore new creative directions. The band articulated their disappointment over the timing of Oasis's reunion, as they strive to focus on future projects rather than past nostalgia.
The Irish group is preparing for their own significant appearances this year, including an expanded UK and Ireland headline tour. They have also scheduled an outdoor concert at London's Finsbury Park in July 2025, featuring support from Amyl And The Sniffers and Kneecap. Fontaines D.C. aim to continually evolve their sound and seek to break free from nostalgia's constraints.
