In a recent interview aired on Studio Brussel, members of the Irish rock band Fontaines D.C. shared their feelings regarding the forthcoming reunion of the iconic Britpop group Oasis. This highly anticipated reunion is set for 2025 and will involve a world tour featuring performances in numerous sold-out stadiums across cities including Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin. Following the rapid sell-out of the initial 14 tour dates, Oasis has added more shows in London for September 2025.

Conor Deegan III and Carlos O'Connell of Fontaines D.C. expressed their frustrations about the nostalgia surrounding the Oasis reunion. O'Connell openly stated, "I couldn't really give a shit, to be honest," which highlights a growing fatigue towards the industry's obsession with past musical eras. Deegan shared O'Connell's views, implying that an overwhelming focus on legacy acts could hinder the creative potential of newer artists like themselves.

Fontaines D.C., recognized for their debut album "Dogrel," has also made waves with their latest project titled "Romance." This new release signifies their ongoing commitment to artistic evolution and a preference for contemporary musical influences that differentiate them from the nostalgia they critique.

As they look ahead, Fontaines D.C. will maintain a busy performance lineup in 2025, including a prominent concert at London’s Finsbury Park in July. They will be joined by support acts Amyl And The Sniffers and Kneecap. This forthcoming show underscores the band’s dedication to cultivating a vibrant musical identity that actively counters prevailing nostalgia.
