Gateways Music Festival is searching for a Director of Development, working closely with the President & Artistic Director. This position involves planning and organizing all fundraising initiatives for this unique festival that promotes classical musicians of African descent. The festival has been a cornerstone for fostering community, creativity, and collaboration among Black classical musicians for over 30 years.
The new Director will be tasked with managing individual and institutional giving, as well as cultivating future fundraising opportunities, including major gifts and capital campaigns. The position requires preparing annual fundraising goals and budget proposals for the Board of Directors. Based in Rochester, New York, the role offers flexibility with the possibility of remote work, pending approval from the University of Rochester.
The festival has made significant strides in recent years, notably debuting at Carnegie Hall with the Gateways Festival Orchestra, the first all-Black classical symphony orchestra to perform at the venue.
