Madrid garage-rock band Hinds, composed of Carlotta Cosials and Ana Perrote, has marked a significant return to form with their new album, VIVA HINDS!. The album, released without a permanent rhythm section, comes after a tumultuous period for the band, which saw members Ade Martin and Amber Grimbergen depart in 2022, leaving the group uncertain about its future. After facing challenges stemming from the pandemic and the loss of their management and label, Cosials and Perrote were determined to keep the group alive. ‘We weren’t gonna wait for a record deal. We weren’t gonna wait for a manager. We decided we were gonna carry on no matter what,’ said Cosials in a recent interview.

The title VIVA HINDS! reflects the band's resilience and friendship, which has always been at the core of their music. For this record, Hinds worked with producers Pete Robertson and Tom Roach, as well as featuring contributions from Grian Chatten of Fontaines D.C. and Beck. The album takes a more adventurous turn, delving into darker themes intertwined with their characteristic upbeat sound.

The duo shared their excitement during a sold-out show at Baby's All Right in New York City. 'The job of a musician is to do music and play shows,’ Cosials said. 'Suddenly, having an album and being able to share one song with the world, I felt like myself again, finally.' Despite the struggles, the duo’s bond has only strengthened, painting a picture of friendship and perseverance against the odds. Hinds have emerged not just intact but evolved, ready to reclaim their place in the music world. Their journey from uncertainty to a vibrant new chapter is captured well in this album, further solidifying their position in the rock genre.

With the release of VIVA HINDS!, fans can expect a mix of raw energy and meaningful lyrics, continuing to inspire others to embrace their own musical journeys.
