Tennessee State University is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Instructor/Assistant Professor - Director of Choral Activities/Vocal Music Education within their College of Liberal Arts, specifically in the Department of Music. This full-time, tenure-track position is set to start in August 2025 and encompasses a variety of responsibilities aimed at enhancing the university's music programs.

The ideal candidate will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, including applied voice instruction, vocal techniques, and choral conducting. A strong emphasis will be placed on preparing and supervising vocal music education majors, as well as developing choral music curricula that align with the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) standards. In addition, the successful applicant will also engage in community outreach and recruitment efforts to bolster the vocal and choral music program.

Minimum qualifications include a Master's degree in Music and 2-3 years of K-12 choral music teaching experience. A doctorate in a related field is preferred, along with demonstrated success in choral teaching at the university level. Furthermore, candidates should have experience with diverse choral literature and possess the ability to accompany choral rehearsals.
