Jerry Cantrell, the iconic guitarist and vocalist best known for his work with Alice In Chains, has released a new single titled "Afterglow" along with a visually striking music video crafted by renowned photographer and filmmaker Matt Mahurin. The video, which showcases Mahurin's signature style of merging realism with surreal elements, runs for five minutes and aims to amplify the emotional depth of the song. In his statement, Cantrell expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting that Mahurin directed two of his favorite videos from the early '90s for Alice In Chains, namely 'No Excuses' and 'Angry Chair.' Mahurin also shared his excitement in creating a video for 'Afterglow,' describing it as a 'fever dream' that flowed out of his creative mind.

The release of "Afterglow" marks the second single from Cantrell's anticipated upcoming album, "I Want Blood," scheduled for release on October 18. The lead single, "Vilified," debuted last month and received commendations from various music outlets, with Revolver calling it 'anxiety-stirring and eerie.' The upcoming album will feature guest performances from notable musicians including Duff McKagan of Guns N' Roses, Robert Trujillo of Metallica, and many others.

Cantrell's album was co-produced by himself and Joe Barresi, known for his work with Tool and Queens of the Stone Age, and was recorded at JHOC Studio in Pasadena, California. The album's full tracklist includes:

  1. Vilified
  2. Off The Rails
  3. Afterglow
  4. I Want Blood
  5. Echoes Of Laughter
  6. Throw Me A Line
  7. Let It Lie

  9. It Comes

Fans can pre-order the album in various formats, including CD, digital, and multiple vinyl variants via bio.to. Notably, each vinyl release will include a bonus spoken word version of each track on the album.
