Katy Perry has officially announced her upcoming single, "I'm His, He's Mine," featuring rapper and singer Doechii. The announcement arrived after a live performance of the track during the MTV Video Music Awards on September 11, 2024. Scheduled to be released on September 13, 2024, this single serves as the third preview from Perry’s anticipated album, "143," which is set to launch a week later on September 20, 2024.
During her social media reveals, Perry expressed enthusiasm over the collaboration and shared a short teaser of the music video that accompanies the single. This new offering follows her previously released tracks, "Woman's World" and "Lifetimes," both of which are part of the forthcoming album.
In her VMAs performance, Perry not only debuted "I'm His, He's Mine" but also received the Video Vanguard Award. Reflecting on her album earlier this year, she declared, "It's a dance party and everyone's invited."
Additionally, Perry has performed three unreleased tracks from "143" during a secretive set at the Evita in Los Angeles. However, her recent activities have sparked some controversy; her label is currently looking into possible environmental damage linked to filming the music video for "Lifetimes," which allegedly took place without proper authorization in the Balearic Islands.
Perry's last studio effort, "Smile," was released in 2020 and encountered a mixed reception from critics, some of whom suggested it lacked the high energy of her earlier work. For more on this story, visit NME.
