Linkin Park has officially announced the addition of Emily Armstrong as their new lead singer, marking a significant return for the band after a seven-year hiatus. Following the tragic passing of original frontman Chester Bennington in 2017, the nu-metal icons have remained quiet until now. The announcement came on September 5, 2024, alongside the news that their eighth studio album, titled "From Zero," is set to be released on November 15, 2024.

Armstrong, who previously fronted the rock band Dead Sara, is joined by producer Colin Brittain on drums, a collaborator with popular bands such as A Day To Remember and All Time Low. The first single from the upcoming album, titled "The Emptiness Machine," was released yesterday during a live-streamed event that also featured performances of classic Linkin Park tracks like "Crawling" and "One Step Closer."

The new single is described as reminiscent of the band's signature sound, featuring anthemic choruses, drum machines, and poignant piano interludes. With lyrics reflecting themes of pain and self-exploration, such as "I let you cut me open, just to watch me bleed," the song connects with the bleakness of contemporary issues.

While the introduction of a new female vocalist adds a fresh dynamic, it also emphasizes the intent of the band to start a new chapter without simply seeking to replicate Bennington's legacy. A North American stadium tour is also planned for next year, promising an exciting comeback for the fans.
