Lone Justice, the influential LA country-punk band, is set to release "Viva Lone Justice," marking its first full-length record since 1986's "Shelter." Anticipation surrounds the new album, which includes previously unreleased material recorded by band member Maria McKee as demos for her 1992 solo album, "You Gotta Sin To Get Saved."

Following the death of drummer Don Heffington in 2021, musician Marvin Etzioni proposed the idea to McKee to revisit these old tapes and transform them into a creative venture. Rather than pursuing a solo project, McKee enlisted the help of former bandmate Ryan Hedgecock to refine and finalize the recordings under the Lone Justice moniker.

"Viva Lone Justice" features a diverse mix of musical styles, incorporating elements of country stomp, folk influences, and a cover of The Undertones’ hit "Teenage Kicks." The dynamic energy across the tracks reflects the band's original vision while expanding beyond their LA punk and rockabilly roots.

Lone Justice gained prominence in their early days for their vibrant live performances, highlighted by McKee's distinctive vocals. The band collaborated with notable artists such as Bob Dylan and toured alongside prominent acts including U2 and Tom Petty. Despite facing challenges in achieving runaway commercial success, the group's legacy persists, evidenced by their inclusion in a Country Music Hall of Fame exhibit celebrating LA's music scene.

Although the timing of live performances remains uncertain, Etzioni hinted at the possibility of future releases, stating, "I might have some other tapes that could turn into another Lone Justice album," encouraging fans to keep an eye out for further developments.

Fans can pre-order "Viva Lone Justice" here. The album is also featured in the latest issue of Uncut.
