New York City-based project Mortal Prophets continues its prolific 2024 with the release of a new seven-song EP titled ICNCLST/. Following previous works such as the Sleeping In My Bed and Brian Eno In Heaven EPs, along with their full-length album HANUSSEN: The Enigmatic Clairvoyant, the project helmed by John Beckmann showcases a dynamic and melodic sound that marks a significant chapter in their discography.

The ICNCLST/ EP presents a rich tapestry of musical styles. Opening with tracks like "Bang Bang," a foreboding piece highlighted by autumnal organ, the EP takes listeners through an array of sonic landscapes. "Flowers For You" provides a hypnotic rock experience with echoes of '80s-era David Bowie intertwined with post-punk introspection.

The eeriness continues with "Who's That Girl," where Beckmann's baritone vocal tone weaves into a narrative drenched in late-night New York City references. The intrigue culminates with songs like "Like the Night," which melds brass instrumentation and delicate keys, reminiscent of Roxy Music's allure and contributing to the EP's overarching nostalgic vibe.

Produced by David Sisko and expertly mastered by Mike Tucci, the EP also features additional guitar work by Gerald Menke, known for his roles in bands including The Dixons and Dent May. Mortal Prophets has been actively promoting the EP through platforms like MusoSoup.

Released on September 9, 2024, the ICNCLST/ EP continues to reflect Mortal Prophets' ongoing quality and productivity this year, staying true to their uniquely captivating sound. For more details, visit Obscure Sound.
