Music Ministry International (MMI) is looking for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Catholic Director of Music at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall. This role will require the music director to provide services primarily on a 1099 contractor basis, amounting to approximately 10-12 hours per week. The position is exciting and offers a unique opportunity to support the music for religious services in a military setting.
The music director will be tasked with facilitating the communal worship life of the congregation, aiming to enhance full participation during services. Responsibilities include planning services, leading music rehearsals, and working closely with the Religious Support Office, chaplains, and other military personnel. The director will not only play the piano and organ but also direct small ensembles and choirs, making it essential for candidates to possess experience in various musical styles, especially within a religious context.
Interested individuals should have at least five years of experience as a music director in worship settings and should hold a Master’s Degree in Sacred Music or a related field. MMI places a strong emphasis on candidates demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of church music and traditional Catholic hymns as well as contemporary Christian music.
The initial contract is set for one base year, starting from May 1, 2023, to April 30, 2028, and includes provisions for several holidays and service frequency, emphasizing the adaptable work hours necessary for this position.
