Canadian alternative band Peach Pit has announced their new album titled Magpie, set for release on October 25 via Columbia Records. The title track was unveiled today, offering fans a glimpse into their forthcoming sound. This single combines an upbeat percussive melody with impressive guitar solos, marking a promising direction for the band's fourth studio album.
The song's lyrical content is inspired by a fictional character navigating life in a gutter, perpetually boozing and searching for highs while confusing an apparent success with personal downfall. Neil Smith, the band's vocalist and guitarist, shared insights on the track, describing it as somewhat autobiographical. He explained, "In some ways it's who I felt I might end up like if I never quit drinking. I had two paths ahead of me in life: one good and one bad."
Musically, Smith notes the influence of Paul McCartney's iconic band Wings, stating that the essence of the song leans toward a 'Wings-esque rock' sound. Fans can listen to the official track now, which promises to be a captivating start to a new era for Peach Pit.
