Rob Halford, the iconic frontman of Judas Priest, has asserted that retirement is not in his immediate plans. At 73 years old, Halford believes that as long as the band can still perform at a high level, they will continue to tour and create music. In a recent interview with Rock 108, he expressed his love for performing and the importance of their dedicated fanbase in keeping the band alive.
Judas Priest has maintained a rigorous touring schedule, recently releasing their 19th album, Invincible Shield, earlier this year. Halford stated, "if your desire is still there, if your passion is still there, if you can still deliver the goods... why would you want to retire?" He emphasized the importance of their fans, saying they are crucial to the live music experience.
Halford remarked, "We'd look pretty dumb going into an arena if there's nobody in there. You need people there. That's part of the experience. It completes you."
Currently, Judas Priest is on a North American tour, with dates scheduled in Japan later in 2024. The band aims to continue delivering the energetic performances that have characterized their long-standing career in heavy metal.
