Ragu's family background is deeply rooted in Sri Lankan culture, as her parents immigrated to Switzerland in the 1980s. It wasn't until 2017, when Ragu was in her 30s, that she moved to New York to write her celebrated debut mixtape, 'damnshestamil'. This significant step marked her commitment to her passion for music.
Her debut album, 'Santhosam', which translates to 'happiness', continues to explore her cultural identity and personal journey. The album is characterized by themes of spirituality, purpose, and self-liberation. Through tracks like 'Black Goose' and 'Let Me Breathe', she addresses pressing societal issues such as police brutality and struggles in Sri Lanka, showcasing the emotional weight of her ancestral lineage.
