Berlin-based electronic music project Trench Coast has released a new EP titled Mix Drinks on September 9, 2024. Following their debut album Drinks, which captured attention for its melodic atmospherics, this latest project offers re-imagined versions of original tracks, expanding their sound to embrace a more robust electronic influence. The EP features five re-arrangements, collaborating with notable artists such as Ansek, Axl Rhodes, grsslichrosaleuchten, and qrauer, alongside Trench Coast's own ‘Celebrity Mix’ of Boris Bay.
The EP opens with Packs, which showcases qrauer, also known as Christian Grochau. His track blends spacey synths and ethereal vocal snippets that build a rhythmic momentum, making it an engaging start. Following this, Ansek's remix of Vallies brings a particularly eerie ambiance, transitioning from fluid synth arpeggios into darker sonic landscapes. Axl Rhodes contributes with the Slushwave Edit of The Human Megybyte, which gradually escalates into late-night grooves punctuated by crashing rhythms, ultimately leaving an impression as it recalls the earlier themes.
Mix Drinks serves as a vital addition to Trench Coast's discography and acts as a perfect companion to last year's debut album.
