The University of Portland is on the lookout for a Hallway Musician to join its compassionate team aimed at uplifting the spirits of young patients and their families in children's hospitals. This unique position involves performing soothing music throughout the hallways and lobbies of either Randall's or Doernbecher's Children's Hospitals.

The Hallway Musician role requires the successful candidate to perform live for a two-hour set using instruments that include piano or string instruments. In addition, the musician will be responsible for setting up and breaking down their equipment before and after performances, confirming with a supervisor to ensure everything is hospital-approved. The role is not just about playing music; it necessitates being present in a sensitive environment, welcoming families who may be facing difficult circumstances.

Qualified applicants must have Federal Work Study Funds included in their financial aid package and must possess the ability to play softly in a hospital setting. Individuals must be at least 18 years old and can commit to a minimum of two sets each month, with scheduling being flexible. The position offers a competitive hourly wage of $16.70, which is higher than the minimum wage for the Portland Metro area.

This opportunity not only provides a chance to enhance the hospital environment through music but also enables the musician to make a positive impact on the lives of children and their families. Interested applicants can find more details and apply through the original job listing.
