Victoria De Angelis, the bassist of Italian rock band Mneskin, has made a striking move into her solo career with the release of her debut single, "GET UP BITCH! (Shake Ya Ass)," featuring Brazilian superstar Anitta. The single, which dropped on September 3, marks a significant departure from Mneskin’s rock roots, embracing a dance-oriented sound that incorporates elements from techno and baile funk.

In a recent interview with NME, De Angelis discussed her transition to this new genre. The collaboration with Anitta came about when De Angelis sent a demo to the Brazilian artist, who quickly responded with her contribution just a week later. De Angelis expressed her excitement at receiving Anitta's part while aboard a flight, emphasizing her admiration for the artist.

De Angelis has always had a fondness for dance music, stating that club culture has played an integral role in her life. While she is best known as the bassist for Mneskin, she has engaged in informal DJing prior to this release and is now eager to delve further into the electronic music scene.

Amid her solo projects, De Angelis addressed rumors regarding Mneskin’s status, clarifying that the band is not breaking up. They recently completed a successful tour and are taking a short break. Both De Angelis and Mneskin frontman, Damiano David, have new solo projects in the pipeline, with David’s work set to release on September 27.

Additionally, De Angelis recently shared the stage with Halsey at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, illustrating her ongoing career evolution. Mneskin's last album, "Rush," was released in 2023, following their notable win at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021 with their hit "Zitti E Buoni."

Fans can expect more dance-oriented tracks from De Angelis in the future while Mneskin continues their activities with the rest of the band also preparing new projects.
