Billionaire pop icon Taylor Swift and NFL player Travis Kelce made headlines this weekend while attending the U.S. Open Tennis Championship. The couple was filmed singing along to a recording of The Darkness's classic track "I Believe In A Thing Called Love" during a break in the tennis action. This light-hearted moment quickly went viral, yet it reached new heights when Justin Hawkins, the frontman of The Darkness, shared his heartwarming reaction on TikTok.

In a video post, Hawkins expressed his joy saying, "I woke up this morning and everyone's forwarded me some footage... of Taylor Swift and her partner dancing along to it and really enjoying the music. It was a really heartwarming moment for me and my little girl can't wait to tell her friends at school. So thanks Taylor. Thanks Travis." Notably, Hawkins had a memorable experience earlier this year when Swift sent him a handwritten letter during a show in Zurich, praising his song and expressing her admiration.

Swift’s letter to Hawkins read: "What a thrill to have you at the show! I'm a massive fan of yours and think I Believe In A Thing Called Love is one of the greatest songs of all time." It’s worth highlighting that the song was voted the Greatest Song Of The Century (So Far) by readers of Classic Rock magazine in June 2020. The renewed attention from both Hawkins and Swift underlines the ongoing impact of this rock hit and the unexpected crossovers between tennis and popular music.
