The Darkness has recently made waves after pop icon Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce were spotted dancing to their 2003 hit "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" at the U.S. Open in New York. The moment, which occurred during a break in the tournament, was captured on camera, showcasing Swift's energetic air guitar performance and Kelce joining in the fun as well.

Justin Hawkins, the lead singer of The Darkness, took to social media to express his delight over the spontaneous display. Hawkins noted that he had recently attended a Taylor Swift concert with his daughter in Zurich, where he was treated exceptionally well and even received a personal note from Swift, expressing her admiration for his band's iconic track. "I was just dad of the year, maybe dad of the century cause all of that was a big surprise," he said in a TikTok video.

The note read, "Justin, What a thrill to have you at the show! I'm a massive fan of yours and think 'I Believe in a Thing Called Love' is one of the greatest songs of all time. I hope you and your family have fun at the show. Thanks so much for coming!! Love, Taylor."

Following the U.S. Open event, Hawkins shared his appreciation for the viral moment, stating, "It was a really heartwarming moment for me, and my little girl can't wait to tell her friends at school. So thanks, Taylor. Thanks, Travis. Thanks, everybody who enjoys tennis. That's a really lovely start to the day. Nice one, guys."

"I Believe in a Thing Called Love," the lead single from The Darkness' debut album, Permission to Land, reached No. 2 on the U.K. Singles chart and earned a Platinum certification in the U.S. While it peaked at No. 9 on the Alternative Airplay chart, its popularity was supplemented by heavy rotation on MTV, cementing its status as a rock classic.
