LUCKYME, the influential record label founded by Ross Birchard, better known as Hudson Mohawke, and his childhood friends Martyn Flyn and Dominic Flannigan, has officially reflected on its 15 years in the industry. The Glasgow-based label was birthed out of a community passion, stemming from their beginnings playing shows around the Glasgow School of Art. Since its inception, LUCKYME has been known for pushing boundaries, defying genre labels, and creating a familial network for artists.

The label's ethos was built on collaboration and support, drawing inspiration from underground hip-hop scenes and the successes of contemporaries who thrived in DIY endeavors. Since releasing their first record in 2007, they've successfully bridged connections across global music circles, notably partnering with the notable Warp label in 2015, which accelerated their reach and distribution.

As they enter their second decade, the team has begun considering the label's legacy and future. They aim to evolve LUCKYME into an institution—"more than the sum of the people involved today," according to Birchard and his colleagues. This shift is articulated through the concept of 'post cool,' signifying a transition away from transient fads towards a broader, inclusive framework embracing new and outsider thoughts.

While many in the industry continue to define themselves by genre-specific sounds, LUCKYME seeks to expand beyond those constraints, establishing itself as a beacon for diverse musical expression. This vision could ensure their longevity while continuing to break barriers and re-shape the music scene.
