Singer-songwriter mxmtoon has revealed her upcoming third album titled 'liminal space', which is set for release on November 1, 2024, through AWAL. This announcement comes alongside the rollout of the album's second single, 'the situation', featuring Sarah Bonito of Kero Kero Bonito, which showcases a more playful tone contrasted against mxmtoon's introspective themes.

In her description of 'liminal space', mxmtoon reflects on the emotional turmoil experienced over the last two years, describing the process as navigating the discomfort of life changes. “How do you cope with life-altering changes? Maybe you make an album about it called liminal space,” she stated, emphasizing the significance of this album in addressing the uncertainty and deeply personal struggles she's faced.

The album follows her previous releases, 2020's 'dusk' and 2022's 'rising'. This new project takes a notably collaborative approach, as mxmtoon has worked exclusively with an all-female team of producers, writers, engineers, photographers, and designers.

'mxmtoon' continues to explore themes of girlhood and societal expectations throughout the album, with tracks designed to push against the narrative that women peak in their youth. 'the situation', which pokes fun at such societal norms, was described by mxmtoon as having the perfect timing to address these often-held misconceptions.

The first single from 'liminal space', 'i hate texas', was released last month, stirring anticipation for the full album. For fans eager to hear the latest from mxmtoon, check out 'the situation' here.

In addition to music production, mxmtoon is also set to appear on DIY's podcast, "Before They Knew Better", discussing her artistic journey, influences from Studio Ghibli, and experiences performing alongside iconic artists like Billie Joe Armstrong.
