Nilfer Yanya has unveiled a new single and music video titled "Just a Western," which serves as a preview for her highly anticipated third studio album, "My Method Actor," set to release on September 13 via Ninja Tune. The new track, accompanied by a visually striking video shot by Molly Daniel against a captivating dry Spanish desert backdrop, showcases Yanya's unique blend of lyrical depth and melodic exploration.

In discussing the song's intricacies, Yanya noted that while the melody exudes a freeing quality, the lyrics present a more complex narrative of existential entrapment. She described the line "there's no way in, no way out" as a central theme that reflects on the notion of facing one’s fate. Yanya acknowledged a personal journey throughout the writing process, remarking, "writing is definitely problem-solving - in the way they say that dreaming is like problem-solving. You're like, oh, that sounds good. That looks good. That makes sense. But you don't really know why."

The forthcoming album, "My Method Actor," is projected to delve deep into Yanya's experiences as she transitions into her late twenties, grappling with newfound identity and the implications of being an established artist. The album is currently available to pre-order here. Yanya has positioned "Just a Western" as not only a single but also a crucial part of her evolving narrative, making listeners eager for what’s to come on the full record.
