Pharrell Williams has unveiled a new track titled "Piece By Piece," from the soundtrack of his upcoming LEGO biopic of the same name. The song features the Princess Anne High School Fabulous Marching Cavaliers, the marching band from Williams' alma mater. It addresses Williams' work ethic and determination in pursuing a music career, subtly incorporating references to LEGO bricks.
The film, directed by Morgan Neville, is set to chronicle Pharrell's life and career, including his time with The Neptunes alongside Chad Hugo, as well as collaborations with artists such as Snoop Dogg and Gwen Stefani. Scheduled for a US release on October 11 and a UK premiere on November 8, "Piece By Piece" marks the first offering from the film's soundtrack.
In addition to narrating his personal journey through the music industry, the biopic will feature appearances from numerous notable collaborators, including Jay Z, Kendrick Lamar, Justin Timberlake, and more. Recently, Daft Punk has also been confirmed to have a role in the film, remaking the magic from their previous collaboration on the hit "Get Lucky."
The world premiere of "Piece By Piece" took place earlier this month at the Telluride Film Festival. Williams expressed excitement over the project in a previous interview, calling it "an amazing experience of history" and praising director Neville's ability to vividly capture his life story. Neville elaborated, describing the film as a combination of documentary, biopic, animated movie, and musical, ensuring that everything portrayed is authentic.
