Jeonghan, a member of the acclaimed K-pop group SEVENTEEN, is scheduled to begin his mandatory military service on September 26, 2023. This announcement was confirmed by Pledis Entertainment, the group’s management agency, in a statement released on the fan community platform Weverse on September 12. He will be the first member of SEVENTEEN to undertake military duty, a requirement for male citizens in South Korea.

Due to his enlistment, Jeonghan will not partake in promotional activities related to SEVENTEEN's forthcoming mini-album or their 2024 'Right Here' world tour. However, Pledis Entertainment assured fans that he would feature in a number of pre-recorded segments scheduled ahead of his departure. The agency has also urged fans to refrain from visiting the enlistment site and requested their ongoing support for Jeonghan during this period of service.

This announcement follows SEVENTEEN's recent accolade of Best Group at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), held in New York, underscoring the group’s prominent status within the K-pop landscape. Notably, Jeonghan wrapped up his live performances with a captivating appearance at Lollapalooza Berlin, expressing enthusiasm prior to the festival about making unforgettable memories with their fanbase, known as Carats.
