The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), a UK Government body, is set to investigate Ticketmaster following significant fan backlash over ticket pricing and purchasing experiences related to the upcoming Oasis concert tour. The iconic British band, who recently announced their reunion shows for 2025, has seen widespread criticism aimed at Ticketmaster's controversial 'dynamic ticketing' policy. Many fans expressed frustration after finding prices at checkout substantially higher than expected as they queued for hours to secure their spots.

In light of this controversy, which reportedly involved over 10 million fans from 158 countries attempting to purchase tickets, the CMA's inquiry will explore several key areas. The investigation will seek to determine whether Ticketmaster engaged in unfair commercial practices as outlined by the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008. Particular attention will be paid to whether fans received timely and clear information regarding dynamic pricing and if they felt pressured to make quick purchasing decisions at unexpected prices.

CMA Chief Executive Sarah Cardell stated, "It’s important that fans are treated fairly when they buy tickets, which is why we’ve launched this investigation." The authority is inviting affected fans to provide evidence of their experiences, which could shape the outcome of the investigation.

Amid the uproar, the Gallagher brothers have distanced themselves from the ticketing decisions, clarifying that they defer all ticketing matters to their promoters and management. They emphasized that the band had no prior knowledge of the implementation of dynamic pricing for their shows. As a response to the backlash, Oasis has initiated a limited invitation-only ballot for additional gigs at Wembley Stadium set for September 27 and 28.

Fans of the band can find the complete list of upcoming tour dates, including their performances across major UK venues in 2025, on Ticketmaster.
