Victoria De Angelis, the bassist of Italian rock band Mneskin, has ventured into her solo career with the release of her debut single, "GET UP BITCH! (Shake Ya Ass)," featuring Brazilian superstar Anitta. The single dropped on September 3 and represents a distinct departure from Mneskin’s traditional rock roots, embracing a vibrant dance-oriented sound infused with elements of techno and baile funk.

In a recent interview with NME, De Angelis elaborated on her transition into this new genre, explaining that her collaboration with Anitta was serendipitous. After sending a demo to the Brazilian artist, she quickly received Anitta's input just a week later, a moment that De Angelis described as thrilling while aboard a flight.

Having always maintained a passion for dance music, De Angelis highlighted the significance of club culture in her life. Although she is predominantly recognized as the bassist for Mneskin, she has dabbled in informal DJing ahead of this release and is now keen to further explore the electronic music landscape.

While focusing on her solo endeavors, De Angelis addressed speculation surrounding Mneskin’s future, clarifying that the band is not disbanding. After completing a successful tour, the band is currently taking a short hiatus. Both De Angelis and Mneskin’s frontman, Damiano David, are working on new solo projects, with David's music slated for release on September 27.

De Angelis also gained attention for her recent performance alongside Halsey at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, showcasing her expanding career trajectory. Mneskin's last album, "Rush," was released in 2023, following their notable win at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021 with their hit "Zitti E Buoni."

Fans can anticipate more dance-oriented tracks from De Angelis moving forward while Mneskin remains active, with the rest of the band also preparing new projects.
