BLACKPINK's Jennie has formally announced her signing with Columbia Records, in collaboration with her own brand, Odd Atelier. This partnership indicates a significant new chapter in her music career, slated to produce new solo material shortly. On September 9, 2024, Jennie revealed that her upcoming single will be released in October, marking her first solo project following 'You & Me,' which came out in October 2023.

Since the launch of her solo path, Jennie has featured on tracks with other artists. Noteworthy collaborations include her work with Brockhampton's Matt Champion on 'Slow Motion' released in March and Zico's 'SPOT!' in April 2024. Additionally, she teased an unreleased song during a promotional TikTok post for the Beats by Dre earphones in June.

Jennie's move to Columbia Records comes after BLACKPINK decided not to renew their contracts with YG Entertainment, aiming to explore more independent careers. She becomes the second member of BLACKPINK to release new solo music under this new direction, following Lisa's successful singles 'Rockstar' in June and 'New Woman' featuring Rosalía in August.

Jennie’s signing adds her to the ranks of A-list artists at Columbia, which has produced records for stars like Beyoncé, Adele, and Harry Styles. This development has also pushed the anticipation for her impending release to new heights. In related news, BLACKPINK member Lisa is set to perform at the upcoming 2024 VMAs on September 11, alongside notable artists such as Halsey and Lenny Kravitz.
