MAMAMOO singer Hwasa has officially announced the release of her sophomore mini-album, titled ‘O’. The announcement comes via her label, P Nation, on September 9, revealing that the album will drop on September 19 at 6 PM KST. The teasers shared include a clip of Hwasa reading a newspaper with the headline, "HEY GUESS WHAT," before folding it to display the album's release date. A second teaser features her dancing on the platform of Trocadro Station in Paris, accompanied by a lively instrumental track, and is captioned, "The wait is over."
This upcoming mini-album marks Hwasa's first musical project since her debut solo mini-album ‘Mara,’ which was released back in June 2020. Prior to that, she debuted as a soloist in 2019 with the single "Twit", later followed by the single album ‘Guilty Pleasure’ in 2021. ‘O’ is also notable as it is her second release since signing with P Nation last year, following the single "I Love My Body" released in September 2023. This single was a response to a public indecency controversy regarding a performance earlier in her career.
Fans can expect more updates regarding the project in the coming days. While K-pop continues to evolve, Hwasa's new project adds to an exciting period for the genre, which recently saw BLACKPINK member Jennie signing with Columbia Records for her upcoming solo work.
