Half Waif has unveiled her new single, "The Museum," which is set to feature on her anticipated album, See You At The Maypole. The track was released on September 9, 2024, while the album is scheduled for launch on October 4, 2024, via ANTI-. The song draws inspiration from a local museum dedicated to Shaker art located in her hometown. In discussing the track, Half Waif, whose real name is Nandi Rose, expressed a poignant commentary on contemporary society, juxtaposing the idea of preserving artifacts in a museum against the backdrop of ongoing climate crises. She reflected on the contrast in preserving history while facing environmental devastation, stating, "It’s beautifully delusional to create a museum at a time when the world is reaching the apex of climate crisis."
Additionally, she mentioned the concept of tourism, particularly in intriguing locations like Iceland, stating it mirrors the same surreal nature she perceives in her local museum project. Nandi noted that her discussions with her husband about building a family also informed the song, encapsulating the responsibilities of new life amidst global uncertainty.
In support of her album, Half Waif has announced an early 2025 European tour, which includes shows in Berlin, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Paris, and London. More information regarding the tour can be found on her official website, halfwaif.com. For those eager to hear the new album, it is available for pre-order now.
