Noel Gallagher, the former Oasis guitarist, is set to have his portrait displayed at London's National Portrait Gallery later this year. The photograph, taken by renowned photographer Zoe Law, will debut as part of the gallery's 'Legends' exhibition on November 29, 2024, and will remain on view until March 2, 2025, before it becomes a permanent part of the gallery's collection. Gallagher expressed his excitement and gratitude in a press statement, stating, "The thought of the portrait of a grumpy middle-aged man, who frankly hates having his picture taken, being permanently displayed for future generations to marvel at is very special. Thanks and praise." The exhibition will feature a black-and-white collection of portraits that also includes images of notable figures such as World Cup winner Sir Bobby Charlton, actress Kim Cattrall, and actor Orlando Bloom. Law, who captured Gallagher's likeness, remarked on the honor of having her work recognized by the National Portrait Gallery, saying it is a dream come true for portrait photographers and artists. This announcement comes on the heels of Oasis' recent reunion tour, which has sparked significant interest among fans. Following the sell-out of tickets for their live shows, the band added two additional performances at Wembley Stadium on September 27 and 28, 2024, with stricter rules for ticket sales, including a private ballot system. This surge in interest seems to reflect an improvement in relations between Noel and his brother Liam Gallagher, since their reunion plans were revealed.
