Green Day side project Pinhead Gunpowder is set to release their second studio album titled 'Unt' on October 18, marking their first new music in 16 years. Comprised of Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, touring guitarist Jason White, bassist Bill Schneider, and drummer Aaron Cometbus, the band has remained active since their inception in the early '90s but has released only one studio album, the 1997 debut 'Goodbye Ellston Avenue'.
On September 5, the band teased their comeback by posting a photo of the four members alongside the logo for Oakland label 1-2-3-4 Go! Records, hinting at news to come. Just hours later, they confirmed the new album and shared the title track, 'Unt', which is available for streaming. The tracklist for 'Unt' includes 14 songs, such as 'Difficult But Not Impossible', 'Scum Of The Earth', and 'Song For Myself'.
In a statement, the band reflected on their hiatus, noting that they had been playing for themselves and working nostalgically on their back catalog since 2010. Their preparation included writing new songs and cultivating a closer bond, leading to the decision to record a new album, which they described as their best yet.
The timing of this announcement coincides with Green Day's ongoing 'Saviors' stadium tour, where they're performing alongside support acts such as Nothing But Thieves and The Hives. In recent news, a Green Day concert in Detroit was temporarily interrupted by an unauthorized drone. Fans eagerly await both the new album from Pinhead Gunpowder and additional tour dates from Green Day in celebration of their earlier works, 'Dookie' and 'American Idiot'.
