Ugandan-born, Newcastle-bred artist Victor Ray has released his new single, "Still The Same," marking his first release since the EP "I TRIED." This single is part of a four-release series that charts Ray's growth over the past two years. The song premiered on BBC Radio 1's Future Artists show, showcasing a shift to a poppier, stadium-sized sound while maintaining the introspective qualities that characterized his earlier work.
Lyrically, Ray emphasizes his steadfast connection to his roots amidst rising fame and accolades. He shared, "'Still The Same' tells the story of my journey till now. The message that I hope people resonate with is: no matter how my world may change on the outside, I would never compromise any of the values I hold on the inside. My journey has been one that started with struggle and heart, and that has shaped me in ways that no amount of fame or fortune could change."
In a recent interview with CLASH Next Wave, Ray discussed his viral success on TikTok, emphasizing his focus on long-term artistic goals rather than short-lived trends. "I'm quite a traditional artist, the way I write my music. Social media is like fast food, so it's important to make content that feels like an extension of the music," he explained.
In addition to the single release, it was announced that Ray's biggest headline show to date at London’s KOKO on November 25 has sold out. For more details on the single and to watch the music video, visit CLASH Music.
